History of Marwi CZ factory

Roughly half of the population of the village Jedlka were farmers, others worked in industry or were craftsmen. In 1854 on shore of the river Ploucnice in the valley "Eliscino udoli" was built the cotton spinning mill. It was owned by "Johan Münzberg a Comp." with headquarters in Decin - Stare Mesto. During that times there were 120 employees.

After year 1945 the factory employed many inhabitants Jedlka village. The property was owned by ASSMANN Company. The factory had its own power plant, which had not enough electricity to supply whole factory but brought considerable savings. The factory has produced bicycle saddles that were well know all over the world. The original working hours were from 5 in the morning till 9 in the evening. The job, is said, was easy so during that time there were children employed also.

Gradually, the owners of the factory changed. Since 1948 the factory was nationalized as all factories and was for long time called "Velo stadion, Jedlka", later TDV - Tovarna detskych vozidel (=Factory for child vehicles), branch factory with headquarters in Melnik. The factory has produced baby carriages.

Later, the factory was completely renovated and Daymoon Company took over it. They have produced components for their own production. During that time there was also parts assembling and galvanic workshop. Due to many toxicants and pollutants leaves the galvanic workshop, the factory had to build up its own waste water treatment plant. In 1984 two new halls were built, one textile and one metal. New flooring from PVC was made in all premises.

After 1989 the factory was taken over to private ownership and since the turn of the millennium is known as MARWI CZ.
